Disk Usage for Mac and iPhone
Privacy policy
Last updated October 8, 2026
Disk Usage is made by Decodr.tech. This policy explains what the Mac and iPhone apps do with your data.
The short version
Disk Usage does not collect any personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party service. Decodr.tech never receives your data.
Data that stays on your Mac
To show free space, history and forecasts, the Mac app reads the name, capacity and free space of your disks and keeps a daily history on your Mac. When you analyze a disk, the app reads the sizes and names of its files to group them by category. This information stays on your Mac, in the app's own storage, and is never sent to Decodr.tech.
The app only analyzes a disk after you select it, never deletes or moves your files, and never uploads their content.
iPhone sync through your private iCloud
If Show on iPhone is turned on in the Mac app's settings, the Mac app writes the following to your own private iCloud database, under your Apple Account:
- the name of your Mac and of its disks, their capacity, free space, connection state and 30 day history,
- the result of your last analysis of each disk: the size of each category and the names, folders and sizes of the largest files,
- low space alerts, so your iPhone can show a notification.
The iPhone app reads these records and keeps a copy on the iPhone, so the app and its widgets work offline.
This database belongs to your iCloud account. Decodr.tech cannot read it. Apple stores it under the Apple privacy policy. Turning Show on iPhone off deletes these records. You can also remove them in the iCloud settings of your devices.
Notifications
Low space alerts and the weekly summary are created on your devices. Alerts on iPhone are delivered by Apple through iCloud. Decodr.tech does not run any notification server.
Children
Disk Usage collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
