MergePDF for iPhone and iPad

Privacy policy

Last updated October 8, 2026

MergePDF is made by Decodr.tech. This policy explains what the app does with your data.

The short version

Your files are processed on your device and are never uploaded: Decodr.tech never receives them. The free version shows ads and uses anonymous usage statistics, both from Google and both subject to your consent where the law requires it. MergePDF Pro shows no ads.

Your files

The files you add, the merged PDFs, your saved documents and your history are stored on your device. Merging, compression, text recognition and the conversion of Word, Excel and PowerPoint files all run on your device, even offline. With iCloud sync turned on, your documents are also kept in your own iCloud Drive, under your Apple Account.

AI features

Summaries, answers, key information, translation and file names are produced by Apple's on-device models (Apple Intelligence and Apple's Translation framework). Your documents and questions are processed on your device and are not sent to Decodr.tech, to Apple or to anyone else. Some languages may need to be downloaded once by iOS for translation.

Camera and photos

The camera is only used when you scan a document, and the app only reads the photos you choose to add. Scans and photos stay on your device.

Ads and statistics (free version)

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob and measures its use with Google Analytics for Firebase. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app first asks for your consent through Google's consent form: ads are only requested after your choice, and statistics stay off until you allow them. You can change your choice at any time in the app settings. These services may process an advertising identifier and technical data about your device, under Google's privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). They never receive your files.

Purchases

MergePDF Pro is a one-time purchase made through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; Decodr.tech never sees your payment details. Subscriptions bought in earlier versions are managed in your Apple Account settings. See also the terms of use.

Children

MergePDF is not directed to children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with its date.
