Relecture AI for Mac
Privacy policy
Last updated October 16, 2026
Relecture AI is made by Decodr.tech. This policy explains what the Mac, iPhone and iPad app does with your texts and your data, in its three ways of working: on your Mac, with your own AI server, and with the optional online subscription.
The short version
Without the online subscription, Relecture AI never sends your texts to anyone. The checks and the AI run on your Mac, with models you download once. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking. The app does send anonymous usage counts (see below), which you can switch off in Settings. With the online subscription, and only after you allow it, the text of each AI action is sent to Anthropic (Claude) through a server of Decodr.tech, which keeps no copy of it.
What stays on your Mac
The texts you check, the results, your settings, the AI models and the example emails you choose for Write like me are stored on your Mac only, in the app's own storage. The app never reads your mailbox on its own: it works on the text you select, paste or open in its Mail panel. It never replaces a text without a click from you.
The example emails of Write like me are the ones you pick yourself, at most three. You can remove them at any time in the settings.
Your own AI server (Pro)
If you point the app at your own AI server, the text of each AI action is sent to that server and nowhere else. The app warns you when the address is not encrypted (http) on your local network. The server, its security and what it keeps are under your control, not Decodr.tech's.
Online AI (subscription)
Online AI is off until you allow it in the settings. The app then asks for your consent once, with the same information as here. For each online action, the app sends to Decodr.tech's server:
- the text you selected or received (never the rest of your mailbox, the addresses, the attachments or their names),
- the action and its options (length, tone, language), your one-line instruction if you wrote one,
- the display name of the sender and yours, so the reply is addressed correctly,
- if Write like me is on, your name and up to three of your example emails,
- your App Store subscription receipt, signed by Apple, so the server can check that the subscription is active.
In a conversation, the messages of the other people in it are part of the text, so they are sent too. You remain responsible for the texts you send.
What Decodr.tech's server does
The server checks the receipt, builds the request and passes the text to Anthropic's API to produce the answer. It does not store the text, the instruction, the names or the answer, and does not write them in its logs. It keeps only, for the current month, a counter of your actions under a code derived from your subscription number (not your name, not your e-mail, not your device), to apply the monthly quota of your plan. The web server in front of it keeps standard access logs (time, address, request path, status, no text) for 14 days.
The daily backups of the server, which Decodr.tech keeps for up to two years, can still hold the counters of the day they were taken. They contain no text, no name and no e-mail address.
What Anthropic does
Anthropic processes the text to produce the answer, in the United States. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use this data to train its models and deletes the inputs and outputs within 30 days; content flagged by its safety systems can be kept longer to enforce its usage policy. Anthropic's privacy information: anthropic.com/privacy.
Anonymous usage counts
To know which features are used and to improve the app, Relecture AI sends anonymous counters to a Decodr.tech server. Each one is made only of: the name of an action (check, reformulate, reply, summarize, translate, a Share action, paywall shown, purchase, restore, consent, My AI server set), the app version, the platform, and the date and time (UTC, to the minute) at which they reach our server.
The country is derived from your network connection by our server, which does not keep the address. Counts are never linked to you, to a device or to any text. They contain no text, no name, no e-mail address and no identifier. There is no tracking across apps. IP geolocation data by DB-IP (db-ip.com).
You can switch this off at any time with "Share anonymous usage counts" in Settings. It is on by default. When it is off, nothing is sent.
What is never collected
No account, no e-mail address, no device identifier, no precise location, no contacts, no crash reports, no advertising identifier, no tracking. Apart from the anonymous usage counts described above, there is no analytics. On the App Store, the data types declared are Usage Data (product interaction) and Coarse Location (the country) for these counts, and Other user content and Purchase history with the online subscription. None is linked to your identity and none is used for tracking.
Other connections
- Model downloads come from Hugging Face, with a signed list published by Decodr.tech. No personal data is sent; Hugging Face sees your address like any website you visit.
- Once a day, the app asks Apple's public catalog whether a newer version exists. Only the app identifier is sent.
- Purchases are handled by Apple under the Apple privacy policy. Decodr.tech never sees your payment details.
Your choices
You can turn online AI off at any time in the settings; from then on no text leaves your device. You can also switch off the anonymous usage counts in the settings. The monthly counter of a subscription is deleted after the end of the month. To ask about the data held about your subscription, write to the address below with your App Store subscription number.
Children
Relecture AI is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date, and the app will ask for your consent again before any online action.
