Ping Network Scanner for iPhone
Privacy policy
Last updated October 8, 2026
Ping Network Scanner is made by Decodr.tech. This policy explains what the app does with your data.
The short version
The network tools run on your iPhone and Decodr.tech never receives your hosts or your results. The free version shows ads. The app measures anonymous usage statistics with Google, with your consent where required. Ping Pro has no ads.
Your hosts and results
The hosts you add, their settings, history and results are stored on your iPhone. With Ping Pro and iCloud sync turned on, they are also kept in your own private iCloud, which only you can read.
Network requests made by the tools
Each tool talks directly to the network, from your iPhone: pings and traceroute to the hosts you choose, DNS lookups through your network's DNS servers, whois and RDAP lookups to the public registries. To show your public IP address, the app sends a single standard request to a public STUN server (Cloudflare or Google). The country of an IP address is found on your iPhone, with a built-in database (IP geolocation by DB-IP): no request is made for it.
Port scan and known vulnerabilities
The port scan only connects to the device you choose to scan. When a service on that device announces its software and version (for example "OpenSSH 9.6"), Ping may send that name and version to the National Vulnerability Database (NVD), a public database run by NIST (United States), to look up known vulnerabilities. Only the software name and version are sent. No IP address, device name or personal data is sent, and Ping keeps nothing.
To show the names of devices on your local network, Ping may also ask them directly (Bonjour, NetBIOS). These exchanges stay on your local network.
Local network
The LAN scan and Wake on LAN need access to your local network, which iOS asks you to allow. The devices found stay on your iPhone.
Ads (free version)
The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app first asks for your consent through Google's consent form, and ads are only requested after your choice. Ping Pro shows no ads.
Usage statistics (all versions)
The app measures its use with Google Analytics for Firebase, in the free version and in Ping Pro. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, statistics stay off until you allow them. You can change your choices at any time in the app settings. Google AdMob and Google Analytics for Firebase may process an advertising identifier and technical data about your device, under Google's privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
Purchases
Ping Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; Decodr.tech never sees your payment details.
Children
Ping Network Scanner is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with its date.
